Welcome Home
We were out of the office last week for our family vacation. The guys and I headed to Seattle where we jumped on a ship for an Alaskan cruise. It was absolutely wonderful!
It was a hard sell to get Paul to Alaska for a vacation. He’s more of the warm weather type of vacationer and Alaska doesn’t exactly conjure up images of white sandy beaches and 80 degree sunny days. But it was a great vacation! The weather in Alaska is normally rainy (the coastline is considered rain forest and Juneau, AK gets over 12 feet of rain a year). As Paul likes to say, he’s the luckiest photographer anywhere… the weather held out and we had no rain on any of our days. We even had beautiful blue skies and puffy white clouds for our scenic cruising in Tracy Arm Fjord when we went to see the glacier.
Some highlights of the trip:
- Panning for gold in Juneau
- Glassblowing our own Christmas ornaments in Skagway
- A cliff-hugging scenic train ride from Skagway to the Canadian border
- Learning about totem poles in Ketchikan
- Cruising the fjord at Tracy Arm
- Visiting the salt water aquarium in Seattle
- The food!
- The scenery!
- And most importantly, the family time together!
My goal is to get the photos downloaded and processed soon but I’ll warn you, we returned to a pile of emails and photo orders. We’re still unpacking and some of our luggage enjoyed the trip so much that it decided to stay with the airline for a few extra days. I hope the TSA security people don’t drink all of the duty-free liquor I packed in that bag…
