I’ve started to change the images on the www.PittsburghBoudoir.com website and have even entered a link to a Boudoir Only blog. Since I tend to tell women the same information about Boudoir, I thought it would be helpful to have it online just in case someone really, really, really needs boudoir information NOW!
As soon as I get the final permissions, I’ll also post some before and after examples to show what skin polishing looks like since it’s something that is very subtle but yields great results.

Since most churches will decorate the altar for Christmas, you can skip the cost of floral arrangements for the church if you decide to get married during the month of December. Most churches have beautiful and elaborate decorations to celebrate the season.
Meaveen, a bride of ours who was married the first weekend in January, was able to capitalize on her church’s and reception site’s decorating for added ambiance. Those of you who have been with us for a while know that I’m a huge fan of Christmas and have been known to decorate with multiple trees. Well, I kind of have to do that since I’ve been collecting ornaments since I was thirteen… Anyways, I really liked the multiple Christmas tree display that St. Catherine’s of Sweden Church had decorating their altar.

And the Grand Hall at the Priory looked especially regal with the large Christmas trees flanking the entrance and the even larger tree behind the bridal table.

And they look FABULOUS! They look almost like oil paintings, with lots of color and depth.
Our past wedding couple Kathy & Ryan stopped by for a little visit and we showed them the new canvases we had made for the studio (Kathy is our poster child for our recent ad campaign and is the beautiful bride walking down the stairs towards her bouquet). One canvas is a 20×20 square of Kathy from her bridal session. The other is a 16×24 of Kelly and John from their engagement session.
I know that these sizes sound huge when compared to a 8×10 or a 5×7, but I wanted to showcase a larger print in a living room type setup to give our couples a sense of how things would look when they got their photos home. Many times we hear people say that a 8×10 is huge and that’s just not the case when you put one in a room for decorating, especially when hanging a portrait on a wall where it will be viewed from many points in a room.
I took the larger 16×24 canvas out to the studio and hung it on a typical wall with a seating arrangement for two.

Here are some closeups of the canvas… click on the photo to see a larger image.

Corner wrap means no additional matting or framing is required

The corners are clean and secure so that there are no unsightly bumps on the back. Your walls won’t get scratched.

This photo shows the texture of the canvas. It has been lighted in such a way to show the canvas weave.

My friend Dana sent me an interesting list today. She called it the Best of Olan Mills Photography and it was a riot. Stop by the list of the day to see what had Paul laughing out loud.
On a more serious note, I’ve been compiling a list of topics for the blog. Since we’re now into the “slow season”, I’ll be able to post more often. For some reason, January, February and March just aren’t the busy popular wedding months like October and September.
For those of you interested, here are the most popular wedding months for Pennsylvania according to Bridal Bargains Book:
Most popular months
- October (by FAR! We book up for October dates at least 18-24 months in advance. This year’s hot date? Oct. 18th)
- June
- September
Least popular months
- January
- March
- February
Side note from the years of experience amassed by Paul & Cyndy: If you want a high turnout rate for your wedding, go with a date in February or March. Since there are no other weddings to compete with and football season is over, your invitees have a relatively free schedule. Our past brides report that attendance was in the 90-95% range when a wedding occurred in an off month.
Just a thought…
