Hang out with other photographers, of course! And that’s just what Paul did last month when he traveled to Washington, DC to hang out with our friends, The Regeti’s. In addition to enjoying Amy’s fantastic cooking, Paul assisted Srinu and his team with photographing a 700+ guest wedding at the swanky Gaylord Resort.
For those of you who don’t recognize their name, The Regeti’s are one of the most successful and sought after husband and wife teams in the world of wedding photography. For a preview of the full wedding, visit Srinu and Amy’s blog to see the wedding through their eyes.
Here are a few of Paul’s photos from the day…

Yep, Paul booked wedding #40 earlier this week so we don’t have any more room for additional weddings. Thank you to 40 great couples who asked us to be a part of their special celebration!
And, FYI, we have 20 bookings for 2011 so that’s booking up fast as well. Thank you for continuing to make us one of Pittsburgh’s most successful wedding photography studios!

Just received this email from a guest at one of our recent weddings:
Hi Paul,
I just wanted to tell you that I looked at Stefy and Chris’s Wedding pictures on the web gallery and they are just wonderful. You did an outstanding job! I am really impressed with how well the pictures tell the story of their wedding day and how you beautifully captured formal and informal shots of everyone. I had to write to tell you that you did a great job. I am a friend of Stefy’s that attended her wedding reception.
Have a great Summer and keep up the great work. I will certainly tell people about you.
Sincerely,
Venise
Thank you very much, Venise! It was an honor being a part of their day!

Here’s a great article from The Knot about the Top 20 wedding photography mistakes.
Top 20 Wedding Photography Mistakes
My biggie: When people stop what they are doing to look at the camera. Paul and I are normally drawn to the action of the day, so when a person stops their activity, like putting on earrings to give a smile, it blows the purpose of the shot. Just tell your family to ignore us and we’ll capture more of their real personality that way.

Our couples are some of the most creative people out there. Don’t just take our word for it, check out the Trib’s article about couples who personalize their wedding. Hey, maybe I’m a little biased being a two-time Penn State grad myself!

Paul and I have worked over 200+ weddings here in Pittsburgh. We’ve seen some great DJs (see our list to the right for some that we really like)! We’ve also seen several iPod wedding ceremonies/receptions. Here’s a clip from YouTube that you may want to check out if you are planning an iPod wedding reception. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXj4P3iz2yg&feature=player_embedded
At one wedding, we saw guests going over to the iPod and changing the songs midstream if that particular guest didn’t like the selection, even if people were dancing. And from a vendor standpoint, we ABSOLUTELY work together with the DJ to ensure that we know which entrance is being used, when the events are taking place, etc.
Just something to consider.

One of our recent brides surprised us with some great news. Kelly – married in April of 2009 - was chosen to be a Maggie Bride and have one of her wedding photos on the Maggie Sottero website! Excellent!

We found out on Friday that one of Paul’s past brides has lost her battle with illness. Damiene was devoted to her family and our hearts go out to her husband Wesley, and her two young children, Eli and Karsten.

We will always remember Damiene’s beautiful hands. They graced our business cards and DVD labels for many years.

We’re extra excited this month! We found out that one of our great couples will appear in the Whirl Wedding Guide out on newsstands this month. Here’s a link to the floral section and our photo of Natalie’s bouquet (which really was exquisite!). And for your own beautiful bouquet, give April at Mocha Rose a call
